This 980 really cleans better than I thought it would!

The 980 has vacuumed the floors very well - vinyl, wood, low pile carpeting. Goes under beds and furniture that it can fit under. In this way it helps allergies, as before vacuuming under beds was rarely done! After app is set up, I push the clean button and the 980 goes to work. Floors look good, and I'm picky about clean floors! It gets close to the walls when it does the final edge cleaning. The noise level is similar to a regular vacuum especially if it's cleaning carpeting. We now let it clean and leave to do errands. This could be helpful if someone has a disability and finds traditional vacuuming with vacuum cleaner difficult. Has saved us hours of vacuuming! I hope the next model is voice activated and has a numeric percentage shown for battery strength on the app. We're really glad for this purchase - this is an independent review with no affiliations!

This thing works as advertised

I was intrigued by robotic vacuums and decided to splurge and buy one for us for Christmas. We've been using it now for over 2 weeks, and so far I have to say both my wife and I are impressed with how well this damn thing cleans-the extra suction on carpet is pretty impressive. it also is great on hardwood floors, which we have in abundance. I love the way it will clean our entire downstairs (approx 2400 sq ft) returning to the base unit on its own if it needs to recharge itself. Couldn't believe all the dirt we found in its bin. Very easy to use. I like being able to monitor from my iPhone. I know we've only been using it for a little over 2 weeks, but so far we're both very impressed with its performance and we're glad we bought one.

Great Product!

This product really is great. It cleans like a charm in my 850 sq ft apartment. It makes it all the way through the apartment without needing to stop and recharge. We have cats (which I'm allergic to), and run this two to three times a week to keep my allergies from going crazy. This thing changed my life, as I can feel comfortable in the home even with the cats. There are only two issues keeping me from giving it 5 stars:

1. The price. This thing is really expensive. It does a great job, but it's still quite an investment.
2. It gets caught on a lot of things. We have a ton of cat toys around that the Roomba gets stuck on. They get wrapped up in the wheels very often. It's easy enough to untangle, but it requires us to be home to run it since the cats knock the toys down if we pick them up before we run it.

Dog hair - dog hair everywhere

I actually like the product, but it simply cant keep up with my hair generating machines. I have two big German Shepherds. I have to empty the bin at least two or three times per cleaning per day. Its also pretty noisy - I could tolerate it if it didn't run for 4 hours a day trying to keep up. The iPhone app is nice but could use some improvement. I'd like to see a button on the app that immediately stops the machine where it is (so I can take a phone call).
So, if you dont have animals, this is probably a really cool thing to have. For me, its almost as much work as running the upright myself.

Must be Monitored

On day the second day of use, the Roomba 980 was cleaning when we were out the house, and got caught on the wooden floor threshold that borders the sliding glass door tracks. As a result, there is significant, permanent damage to the wooden floor at the point where is got stuck. Now, I will never be able to use the Roomba without being at home to monitor it. In addition, the Roomba seems to get caught in drapes that are touching the wooden floors.
