I have the Roomba 880 so this is a comparison between those two systems. I really tried to like the Bissell because I've been looking for a cheaper model to test for my elderly mother.
The unit comes with one (1) charging base and one (1) wireless sensor.
You have to charge with the DC Adapter first (directly into outlet) before getting started. I would say - my biggest issue is getting it to STOP. I have 3 children under 4 years and sometimes I can't allow the full cycle. A baby wakes too early from nap, the toddler knocks over a pile-o-laundry etc and the vacuum can't be running...it doesn't dock easily AT ALL. With the ROOMBA - I can just press "dock" and it will go home and resume charging.
It also gets stuck pretty easy on carpet. We have an area rug that the ROOMBA can clear easily but the BISSELL got stuck within seconds. And I mean...really stuck.
My first robot vacuum is just what I thought it would be - the perfect supplement to my weekly cleaning. This is perfect to schedule auto cleanings while my wife and I are at work during the day. When the kitchen gets crumbly after dinner prep/cleanup I no longer worry about getting the vacuum out for a quick clean because I know SmartClean will take care of it the next day! Though frustrating to sit and watch (it'll drive you nuts with its unorthodox patterns), you're not supposed to run this thing while you're trying to relax. When you come home after being away, just appreciate that your house is cleaner than you left it and don't ask questions!
I really love this robotic vacuum. It definitely blows away the other brand we had, although it still can't clean all of our flooding in one charge and I think overall we just need two vacuums to cover our square footage needs.
The suction power is great. The noise isn't too bad. Watching if program itself really impressed me. The bin is easy to clean out. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't get all the way to my walls. If I were to use only this for vacuuming the edges of my floors would be a mess.
Overall I think this is great for in between deep cleanings and everyday sweep ups. However, for deep cleaning you're going to have to utilize something else.
I have dark wood floors and thick carpet in various rooms throughout my house. The Bissel works pretty well on all of them. I can't believe how much hair, dust and dirt it picks up. It seems quieter than the Roomba's I've had experience with.
I've setup roomba's before and I think the Bissell setup is easier. My only qualm is if you loose power the charging base looses its programming and you have to reset it.
It seems to find the base half the time, which is about the same rate as I've seen with roomba's. I don't really mind, your going to pick it up and empty it after each cleaning anyways.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchas, I only dinged it a star for not keeping its date/time programming when the power goes out.
Too many possible error messages! It doesn't really do a good job cleaning carpet or rugs. It has to be going a long time in all of the different modes to do any good, and then the battery is dead! I had a Roomba before and it is worth the extra money to purchase that one!
Got one for Christmas last year. Hard to program but finally got it set up. Ran for a little while but was always getting hung up and couldn't find its way home. Then E6 (battery not installed properly) it was. Returned for a new one that ran twice at odd times and then got the same error message. Have heard Bissell has battery conectivity problems. Anyway my second one is dead. Not impressed. And big waste of money. Better to spend a kettle more and get something more reliable
